Magic Rock client Anne Aghion featured in New York Times

by admin on June 23, 2009

Magic Rock client, Emmy Award winning documentary filmmaker, Anne Aghion, was recently featured in the New York Times with her new film “My Neighbor, My Killer.” This is the last episode in a series of 4 documentaries featuring the aftermath of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.  As the horror of the Rwandan genocide is overwhelming, Ms. Aghion focused in on a small group of windows, mainly Hutus married to Tutsis, and the Hutu men who killed the family of those women.  The massacre of Tutsis with machetes were described graphically as “cutting banana trees.”  Wanting to show both sides of the story Ms. Aghion also shows Hutus men dealing with the aftermath of what they were part of.  With a film so powerful that narration would only distract from what was on the screen, this film will open your eyes to how far we have come and how many more steps are needed to help the people of Rwanda.

Anne Aghion also released just last month another documentary “Ice People,” a study of geologist working in one of the most extreme locations on earth, Antarctica.
