About

Magic Rock Entertainment is about finding new ways for filmmakers and distributors to sell their films in a changing distribution environment.  We have created a platform that lets film owners sell directly to consumers DVDs, Blu-rays, or streaming video, as well as get films placed on retail outlets like Amazon, cable VOD networks, YouTube streaming (the pay per view model), and other distribution outlets.

Since 2006, Magic Rock has focused on solving one large problem facing our clients:  how to introduce new films and works of art that have a small marketing and promotional budget to the general public in a way that would generate sufficient income for our clients to keep making films and works of art.  Magic Rock’s core mission is to provide (a) the technical solutions, (b) distribution and retail channel partnerships, and (c) the business processes, to these 2,000 films so they can be sold to more people over longer periods of time (“long tail”).

In our quest, we have invested significant amount of time and dollars in market research, technology development, and business processes creation to support expanding client sales.   For example, we have setup fulfillment operations in Europe, managed currency exchanges by creating three different denominated shopping carts, developed partnerships with content distributors, created a new internal operational department to handle paper-processed sales, and developed sales pipeline into public libraries and academic institutions.  In other words, we leave no revenue unearned.  The sum of three years of business activities, research, technology development, and experience lead to the creation of the solution to the problem.  Magic Rock calls this solution “Active Distribution.”

Active Distribution provides an end-to-end distribution methodology for filmmakers and other artistic clients by providing them with

1) an ecommerce platform to sell a film or work of art in either physical or digital directly to fans;

2) an entry way to a network of channel partnerships with brand-name retailers such as Amazon or Netflix, institutional outlets, and cable/satellite operators who would not otherwise work with individual films; and

3) opportunities to increase sales as new Web, TV, and IPTV consumption channels are invented in the future.  (Magic Rock works with leading channel partners to deliver the converted film content into the formats required by these channel partners, and manages all transactions and payments.)

Headquartered in Los Angeles, the management team that run Magic Rock has extensive knowledge in Internet 2.0, e-commerce, software development, brand equity marketing, content distribution, film and music media, product procurement and manufacturing, and high-volume B2B & B2C order fulfillment.  The company operates from a 30,000 sq-ft fulfillment facility that ships physical merchandise and streams content to anywhere in the world on a daily basis.
